Hide AdThe Readers in Residence programme, funded by Creative Scotland and managed by Scottish Book Trust, will take place in four library authorities until September, 2014 to help build reading communities.
Each reader will work alongside the library, delivering projects to generate a buzz around libraries and books within the community.
Jane said: “This is my dream job. Being around books, the people who love them and the buildings that house them is my idea of heaven. So I’m indebted to the Scottish Book Trust for this opportunity, and for North Lanarkshire libraries for getting behind me so supportively.
“I’m especially excited about working with library users in North Lanarkshire. In my short spell of doing this job so far I’ve found them to be enthusiastic, welcoming and passionate about their libraries. And they make me laugh too, which is a great bonus. I’m planning some special live events, competitions and debates which should inspire the many creative, artistic folk in North Lanarkshire. More details to follow but I can’t wait to get really stuck in.”
