Tummel Bridge brought down

The bridge is dismantled

THE old Tummel Way footbridge at Cumbernauld Town Centre was finally torn down at the weekend.

Demolition crews spent 14 hours at the weekend removing the 40-minute bridge, which spans Central Way.

Our photograph gives some idea of the scale of the operation.

The demolition was previously set several weeks ago, but was delayed after a site inspection found it was several tonnes heavier than stated in the plans, and there was a further delay due to high winds.
