Locals invited to heritage reception
PEOPLE from the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth area are are being invited along to an informal evening reception by Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) next Monday.
Scottish Natural Heritage is the Scottish Government's advisor on all aspects of nature and landscape across Scotland. Its role is to help everyone understand, value and enjoy Scotland's nature.
SNH chairman Andrew Thin and local area manager Ross Johnston will host the event at Alona Hotel, Strathclyde Country Park, Motherwell, on Monday, December 14, from 5.30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Andrew Thin said: "The evening will provide an opportunity for informal discussion about the work of SNH in the area, what we do and why; giving people the opportunity to raise issues relating to the natural environment which are of interest to them. This is about making senior people in SNH more accessible to the public and is also a really useful way for us to keep in touch with public perceptions of the organisation. We certainly hope many people will be able to come along and we look forward to meeting them on the night."
Ross Johnston added: "During the evening we will be looking at how SNH can help deliver local priorities for the environment, health and economic development. We are delighted that Professor George Morris of NHS Scotland will begin the event with a talk on "The role of the environment in improving public health and well-being in Scotland" which we hope will prompt discussion."
The event is free and light refreshments will be provided. Please contact June Topping at the SNH office in Lanark on 01555 665928 for more information and to book a place.
