Let your MP know what you think about Parliament

PEOPLE in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth are invited to give their views on democratic reform as the Government launches a debate on the future of the UK constitution.

Local MP Rosemary McKenna is urging constituents to send her their opinions on the following five topics – reform of the House of Lords; a Bill of Rights for UK citizens; devolution and community engagement; reform of the voting system for the UK Parliament; and public engagement in the political process.

Mrs McKenna said: "Politicians on all sides of the House need to do more than restore the reputation of Parliament – they need to ask fundamental questions about the way in which our democracy functions.

"The Prime Minister announced a wide ranging consultation on the future of the UK constitution which ranged from House of Lords reform to proportional repres-entation to lowering the voting age to 16. I am happy to receive representations on these matters and to then submit those ideas to the Prime Minister and the party leadership for consideration."

Constituents can write to Mrs McKenna at Lennox House, Lennox Road, Cumbernauld, G67 1LL.
