Disabled OAP in Blue Badge renewal plea
Blue Badge parking scheme aims to help disabled people
A DISABLED pensioner has been left unable to leave her Kilsyth house for three months as she waits for her ‘blue badge’ parking permit to be renewed.
Elizabeth McKechnie suffers from osteoarthritis of the hip, and is only able to venture outside at the weekend when her daughter drives her to the shops.
However, with her pass for disabled parking bays having expired in October, the delay in a replacement being issued has left the 77-year-old house-bound.
Elizabeth said: “It’s just been a constant battle – I’ve been made a prisoner in my own home and I’m completely at their mercy. It’s ludicrous”
It emerged that Elizabeth had tried to renew the badge before the deadline - but was told she was too early, and it then slipped her mind.
