UNEMPLOYED young people are being offered the chance to gain vital skills and experience that could help them find a job.

An open day for the Prince’s Trust Team Programme will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, February 1, at Cumbernauld College’s East Dunbartonshire campus.

The information session will give an overview of the 12-week course which is due to begin at the college in late February.

Emma Noble, Prince’s Trust programme leader, said: “The two information days will give young people the chance to come along and find out about the programme, ask questions and think about if the programme is right for them.”

The programme is full-time and open to anyone who is unemployed and between the ages of 16 and 25.

During the three months, students will be involved in project planning, team building activities, fundraising, community projects, a two week work placement, a team challenge and will also achieve four SQA units, as well as basic first aid and a level one BFC health and safety in the work place.

Students will also spend a week away on an activity residential.

Emma added: “The course is open to anyone looking for new direction, qualifications, experience, social development or personal development.

“Everyone who finishes the course goes on to employment, education or training.

“It is a great opportunity for young people to change their life or get on in life.”

Both information sessions will be held in Room three of the East Dunbartonshire Campus, 50 Southbank Road, in Kirkintilloch at 1pm.

For more information, or if you are unable to attend either session and would like an alternative appointment, please contact Emma Noble on 0141 777 2091 or email enoble@cumbernauld.ac.uk.
