Controversial house plans for Kilsyth shelved
Bill Hughes The land I am standing in is the actual site where the development is proposed. The landowners/developers portray that as "scrub land" which it clearly is not
HIGHLY controversial proposals to build thousands of “affordable homes” in Kilsyth have all but been dismissed.
Last year North Lanarkshire was told by a Scottish Government agency that too few sites had been earmarked for homes in the local plan - the planning “bible” for the area.
The plots the agency wanted to see added would have made space for more than 2000 new houses, many of them on green belt land.
But following consultation the proposals for the most controversial sites have been ruled out. And while some surrounding villages may still be developed this is seen as having a more beneficial effect.
Local resident Bill Hughes was dismayed when he heard of the original plans - but this week hailed the climbdown as “a victory for common sense.”

Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 07:46 PMThe reporter discribed the Banton Mill site as a blot on the landscape claiming houses would be better.... Clean up your mess Bennet construction or is it all about the money just like the bankers you want to get rich after making a mess. The reporter needs to go to spec savers. As for the community council they need to resign for supporting these companies who rape the land then want to cover it up with houses and make a few lousy bob.
