Concern over pubs’ move

TWO pubs in Cumbernauld Village have submitted planning requests to build out-door drinking areas outside their premises.

Applications have been submitted to North Lanarkshire Council to construct a decking area outside The Black Bull and The Circle on Cumbernauld Village Main Street.

Labour Central Scotland List MSP Mark Griffin said: “I have concerns about this application, as do many people in Cumbernauld Village. The construction of decking at the front of the Black Bull and Circle bars would likely have a negative impact on the conservation area.

“Furthermore there could be increased disturbance to local residents caused by the level of noise generated by people drinking late into the night.

“Many residents of the Village have already made their concerns clear to me and I will be making representations to the Council’s Planning Department.”

The deadline for comments on the Black Bull application is February 13, application number: 12/00017/LBC. The deadline for The Circle has passed. Visit https://.eplanning.northlan.gov.uk/Online and enter the above code number for further information.
