College in e-mail scam alert
The college has warned students to be on the alert for the scam
CUMBERNAULD College warned its students this week of bogus emails claiming to offer scholarships from UCAS.
The college announced on its Twitter account, @CumbernauldC, that students who receive an email offering a scholarship at any university, or an offer of funding should not open the email and should report it immediately.
A spokesperson for UCAS said: “Some individuals have let us know that they have received an email offering international scholarships from an organisation claiming to be UCAS.
“We have not sent this, or any other, email offering financial support.
“If any students receive an email like this, please make sure they report it to complaints@ucas.ac.uk and delete it once they have reported it.
“Do not to click on any of the links in the email or provide any personal details. Remember, UCAS will never email students for their personal details.”
