Dance In Step's final dress rehearsal before performing at Glasgow's Theatre Royal

A CUMBERNAULD dance school is getting ready for a big stage performance in Glasgow at the weekend.

Dance at the Theatre Royal usually means a performance by a major ballet company, but it is hosting the fifth annual Go Dance festival which showcases the skills of dancers from community dance schools.

One of those schools is Dance In Step, based at Cumbernauld/St Andrew’s Primary School. It is run by Linda McLean, who said: “There will be about 50 of our dancers performing, children and adults. We will be presenting both tap and street dancing,”

She added: “The younger ones can’t wait to get on, while the adults see it a bit differently.”

Primary school teacher Agnes Stevenson, from Abronhill, has been a Dance In Step member for three years. She said: “I am doing tap and hip hop. I am quite happy with the tap dance but not sure people should be paying to see me trying to hip hop in my 40s!“

The show is on Saturday, February 18, starting 7.30pm. Details at www. atgtickets.com/glasgow
