Council is making decisions on placing requests for East Renfrewshire schools
New regulations placed before the Scottish Parliament in April gave councils an extra month – up until May 31 – to respond to parents/carers who had made placing requests for their children for the academic year due to start in August 2020.
A number of other regulations in relation to placing requests have also been amended due to the current coronvirus pandemic and lockdown restrictions.

In addition, given the requirement for social distancing, the regulations make amendments to allow for placing request appeals to be heard by electronic means of video conferencing/voice conferencing.
On its website the council says: “We are continuing to work hard to process school placing requests and will endeavour to provide a response to placing request applications in advance of the extended deadline of 31 May.
“Arrangements for placing request appeal hearings (where requested) to be held by video/telephone conferencing are also being progressed and these will be held as soon as is practically possible.”
Further details, if appropriate, will be provided in the placing request outcome letters sent to parents/carers.
