Snowdrop Festival WILL go ahead
Snowdrops Festival will take place this weekend
AT very short notice, the ever-popular Snowdrop Festival will go ahead in Kilsyth this weekend, despite initially being axed due to a funding shortfall.
The annual event is run at this time of year to coincide with the point when snowdrops typically bloom, and guided tours of the Walled Garden in the Colzium Lennox Estate are offered.
In previous years, members of Kilsyth Community Council have also volunteered their time and organised catering.
However, the announcement that this year’s event will actually take place has come too late for arrangements to be made.
Last minute funding from North Lanarkshire Council’s tourism development budget has allowed the event to go ahead.
Free guided tours by the council’s experienced gardeners will be offered between 12noon and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
No need to book, just come along and learn about the different species while the gardeners will be happy to answer any questions.
