Called Sick, it's a clown show exploring a patient's experience of being hospitalised.

Inspired by personal experience and informed by development with patient groups, Sick has been created as a catalyst for discussion, and better understanding of the experience and needs of hospital patients.

Theatre Modo will be bringing the show to Cumbernauld on Friday, March 19 at 8pm. It stars Suzie Ferguson and Martin Danziger is the director.

The production follows a patient as she negotiates the absurdities of a day in hospital, revealing her wildest imaginings and darkest thoughts as medication, boredom and illness give wings to her flights of fancy.

Sick is inspired by the time the director has spent in hospital following a diagnosis of cancer in 2007, and in a professional capacity as a Clowndoctor.

The show has been developed in collaboration with NHS and patient groups, including NHS Community Engagement, Yorkhill Young People's Service, Maggies, Macmillan Cancer Support and Taktent.

Workshops and long-term residencies have given patients of all ages and conditions a chance to feed anecdotes, experiences and individual accounts into the show.
